It’s no secret that the Dallas, Fort-Worth area has the hottest housing market in the country, and it shows no signs of stopping— at least for now.
In Collin County, June saw single-family home prices continue an upward trend with a 10.0% increase over the same month a year ago, according to information obtained from NTREIS. In Dallas County for the same period there was an 8.3% increase while Rockwall and Denton Counties had increases of 8.4% and 9.9% respectively.
Across the country, we see a similar trend but not to the scale that we are experiencing in the DFW area. May saw national home prices rise by 6.3% over the same period a year ago, according to the research firm, CoreLogin. They also contribute the rise in prices to an increase in construction of single-family homes. Sales of new homes have risen as much as 28.9% from a year ago, with Denton County leading the way with a sharp increase of over 1,861 new single-family homes built over the past 12 months.
